What Is Church Membership?
- There’s a difference between coming to church and being a member of a church.
- There’s a difference between attending church and being a member of a church.
- There’s a difference between church participation and church membership.
Church membership is the mutual acceptance and commitment of the church to the individual and the individual to the church. With membership comes privileges and blessings, but it also comes with greater expectations and increased commitment.
After someone has had time to pray about their decision to join, they may do so by either of two methods: 1) Come forward at the end of the service during the invitation time and make your request known to either an altar counselor or the pastor. 2) State your preference on the perforated tear-off sheet attached to your church bulletin.
In the near future we will be offering a membership class for all new members in order for them to understand the benefits and expectations of membership.
